Disclaimer: I am a designer. I don't write code and know very little about how to read it. However, I've worked extensively with node-based systems in the past, so logical thinking and debugging come naturally to me.

A new Age is upon us, one that is both positive and negative.

Software from five years ago is completely different from the software written today, both in terms of structure and code, as well as usage. With the exponential improvement of artificial intelligence, among other things, vibe-coding has become a viable way for anyone to start a project. Designers, salesmen, artists, car mechanics, anyone can send their message into their favorite model and receive back code that (most of the time) works on the first try.

My "career" in vibe-coding began in 2022 when I needed to optimize my animation work. Using programs like Adobe After Effects, old and clunky on the daily, I started asking Gemini to automate certain actions through scripts. "Simple" things, maybe 200 lines of code that would help me save perhaps seconds or minutes per project. It's not much, but it's honest work... If it had worked.

I could have done the actions I was trying to automate about fifty times in the time it took me to get a functional script. Unexpected bugs, buttons that didn't work, writing prompts trying to tell the AI what wasn't working, copying and pasting new code, and so on.

"This will never be useful, my job is safe" - I thought. In the end, I managed to create a collection of functional scripts that I still use today, but the expression "Vibe-coding" became somewhat of a joke to me.

That is, until I tried Cursor, in 2025. It was everything I, as a designer and lazy person, wanted. The same experience, talking to the agent and explaining my problem and what solution I was looking for, but now the agent could write code, modify and create files, and allowed me to better understand what was being created. It was a surreal experience. My first thought, logically, was "Now, anyone can be a software engineer."... Just like now, anyone can be a photographer or designer using generative AI, right?
This question stuck in my head. I spent a few weeks creating a new app every day. Creating websites, backends, scripts, experimenting with ideas and figuring out the best workflow, but the question was always there. "Anyone can do this... Why is it that with all these new tools, we don't see an explosion of new creators?"

"Yes, anyone can create whatever they want. The computer does everything for them, the person just has to think... And want... And have the will to.."

And that's exactly when it clicked. "Any" person nowadays can, effectively, do and become whatever they want, but most people don't even get through the initial door. Human beings are creatures of habit and comfort, and today more than ever, being comfortable is extremely easy. There are a thousand and one applications to keep you "comfortable," meaning entertained, not to mention the negative impact this has on human cognition.

Having hobbies, being happy and disconnected from the infinite circus that is social media is not profitable.

That's not what apps are made for. After all, what incentives would there be for that? What incentives do I have to learn to use a camera? There are already so many photographers. What incentive is there to learn to play guitar? Music doesn't make money. What incentives do I have to create new or useful things?

Personal incentive. I don't have capital to finance infrastructure or community projects. What I have is time, curiosity, and the tools I've learned to use. The irony of it is: we live in the age where creating is more accessible than ever, but also in the age where it's easier than ever to never create anything.

My goal is not to try to pull people out of their comfort, everyone knows themselves. It's simply to ensure that when someone decides to take that first step, I can help, directly or indirectly. Without paywalls, without complexity, without gatekeeping. If technology has finally democratized creation, then I can use it to create things that make other people's lives easier. Open-source tools, tutorials, automations. Small solutions for everyday problems.

It won't change the world, but it might save someone time, or inspire someone to create their own solution. And if it helps one person, it's already worth it.
